A University of Georgia spokesperson confirmed to SwimSwam this morning that Dobson did not travel with the team, but that they anticipate her return in their 2nd meet of the season against Texas A&M on Saturday, October 10th.
Dobson was originally ranked 10th in the girls’ class of 2025 recruit rankings, but she had a monster freshman season at Georgia, dropping huge swaths of time in the distance freestyle events.
At the 2026 SEC Championships, Dobson swam 4:30.70 in the women’s 500 freestyle to finish 2nd in a very tight race with Texas’ Jillian Cox. She also finished 2nd in the 1650, swimming 15:43.72, and 3rd in the 200 free, swimming 1:42.20.
A month later at the 2026 NCAA Championships, Dobson scored 33 points in her freshman campaign, finishing 3rd in the 500 free (4:32.24), 6th in the 1650 free (15:46.97, and 13th in the 200 free (1:42.97).
She was the Georgia women’s top scoring swimmer at both meets, and she is one of the most anticipated athletes to watch in the women’s distance events this season.
Over the summer, Dobson swam at the Pan Pacific Championships for the United States, where she finished 4th in the 400 freestyle final (4:03.56), 11th in the 800 free (8:29.00), and 13th in the 200 free (1:57.26).
The 2nd match of the CSL will feature Virginia, NC State, Alabama, and Georgia and kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET tonight.
