A northwest suburban high school is being evacuated and streets are closed in the area as police investigate a potential threat, officials said Wednesday morning.
The Bartlett Police Department said it was responding to Bartlett High School just after 11 a.m. to investigate “a threat.”
“Out of an abundance of caution, the school is being evacuated,” the village said in a post on social media.
Police urged residents to avoid Petersdorf Road and Schick Road “for the time being.”
No additional details were immediately provided on what the threat entailed.
The evacuation comes one day after a potential threat sparked a lockdown and major police response at Oak Forest High School.
The threat was ultimately unfounded, but resulted in armed officers and dogs swarming the school after a male caller said he had a firearm and was inside a bathroom at the high school. The caller also said he had access to an additional firearm outside the school and an explosive device that he made at home, police said, and both threatened to shoot people inside the school and claimed that he had already shot someone.
