East Bay Ray, born Raymond Pepperell, who is a prolific punk-rock guitarist and founding member of the band Dead Kennedys, announced that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
The tough news was shared through the band’s official social media account, with the band posting a photo of Ray on Instagram alongside a message to fans. It read, “Dead Kennedys management announced today that the band’s guitarist and founding member, East Bay Ray, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.”
The note also addressed Ray’s future in music, reading, “Ray says he plans to continue performing and touring with Dead Kennedys for as long as his health allows, and expressed his appreciation to everyone for their continued support.”
