Hayden Panettiere’s official cause of death has been revealed.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office told Variety on Tuesday, Sept. 22 that she died due to the toxic effects of fentanyl and other drugs.
“The cause of death has been ruled as toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol and Quetiapine,” the official statement said. “The manner of death has been ruled accident.”
Panettiere died on Aug. 16 in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 36. News of her death was confirmed by her father, Skip Panettiere, who released a statement.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” her father said.
There was no foul play suspected in her death according to the Greenville Police Department.
“The case is under investigation by the Greenville Police Department in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office,” a spokesperson said. “The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. An acquaintance of Ms. Panettiere placed the 911 call.”
Panettiere is best known for her roles in Heroes,” “Nashville,” “Scream 4” and “Scream VI.” She also had a breakout role in the iconic 2000 film “Remember the Titans” alongside Denzel Washington, as well as starring in Disney’s 2005 ice skating movie “Ice Princess” and 2006’s “Bring It On: All or Nothing.”
