Avery Daigle from Mandeville, Louisiana, has announced her intention to swim and study at Indiana University beginning in the 2028-29 school year. She told SwimSwam:

I want to thank my family, my coaches, and everyone who has supported me along the way. I am especially thankful for all the help I have received from my first coach (Dad) and Coach Robby. Huge thanks to Coach Ray, Coach John, and the entire Indiana coaching staff for this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to be a Hoosier! ”
A junior at Mandeville High School, Daigle trains year-round with Franco’s Fins and specializes in sprint free, fly, and back. She was named to the 2026-27 USA Swimming National Junior Team for her 50 free and we considered her the #9 recruit in the cohort on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers in the high school class of 2028.
At the Louisiana High School Division 1 State Championships last fall, the then-sophomore won the 100 fly (54.02) and 100 back (54.14) individual titles, swam fly (23.65) on the winning medley relay, and anchored the runner-up 400 free relay (49.42).
Three weeks later, she competed at 2025 Winter Juniors East and notched massive PBs in the 50 free (22.21) and 100 free (48.94), events in which she placed 2nd and 9th, respectively. She also competed in the 100 back and 100 fly. In January, she went lifetime bests in the 200 IM (2:01.72) and 500 free (4:59.41) at the Gabrielle Rose Tiger Classic. A month later, she won the 50/100/200 free, 50 back, and 100 fly at the Louisiana Senior SC State Championships, clocking PBs of 1:49.20 in the 200 free, 24.69 in the 50 back, and 53.57 in the 100 fly along the way. She also turned heads with an other-worldly 21.63 anchor on FINS’ 200 free relay, instantly upping her stock as an elite sprinter.
Daigle chipped away at her LCM times all summer, before notching PBs of 25.50 in the 50 free, 29.68 in the 50 back, 1:03.71 in the 100 back, 26.80 in the 50 fly, and 1:01.31 in the 100 fly at the Louisiana Senior LC State Championships. She finished the summer at U.S. Nationals, competing in the 50/100 free, 50 back, and 50/100 fly and lowering her PB in the 100 free to 57.38.

In addition to her value in free, fly, and back individual events, she has massive relay potential. Her times would already score at B1G Championships in the ‘C’ finals of the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 back. It took 53.24 in the 100 fly and 2:00.70 in the 200 IM to make finals at the 2026 conference meet.
