Bo Nix had a decisive game despite offense’s slow start
After going back and watching the All-22, Bo Nix didn’t have a bad game, despite having a bad outcome on a goal-line series. On his interception specifically, Nix identified the right coverage pre-snap, noting that it was a Cover-0 look and an 8-man blitz by Jacksonville.
The only wildcard is that instead of the nickel corner jumping Jaylen Waddle’s route, he banjo’d it with the safety, climbing over the top post-snap where he dropped back against Courtland Sutton’s corner route, which in theory, would allow the safety to break on Waddle’s route if it broke inside.
Nix’s throw off his back foot is where the real gripe can take place, but decision-wise, it was the right call pre-snap against an all-out blitz and a great play by Jacksonville.

In the second half, Nix looked calm and settled, delivering some money balls to various receivers, including Jaylen Waddle, Nate Adkins, Troy Franklin, and Evan Engram.
Having more manageable down-and-distance situations not only helped Nix, but it helped the offense find rhythm.
Broncos have to find a way to use Jonah Coleman more
The Broncos rookie rusher stepped up big time in the second half offensively. His vision on his first 12-yard run was great because he was patient. Garett Bolles kicked out a playside threat, and Quinn Meinerz bullied the defensive tackle for five or six yards, and Coleman cut back inside perfectly to let Meinerz clear the way for him.
Denver ran the same exact play on Coleman’s other 12-yard run that iced the game, with the defense converging inside and cornerback Travis Hunter chasing inside — Coleman saw that and bounced it out and slid to keep the clock rolling, which set up victory formation.
Coleman can do it all. He can run the ball, catch the ball out of the backfield, and he can get his nose dirty in pass protection. His vision and energy are too good for the Broncos to ignore, as J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday Night Football with their hamstring injuries.
Even when they return, Coleman needs valuable reps on the field because he’s an impact player.
Broncos defense returned to their roots on Sunday
Everybody in the world was waiting to see what the Broncos defense would do against a Jaguars team that looked unstoppable in Week 1, especially with Denver coming off of a massive blowout against the Chiefs.
Rather than panicking, the Broncos defense stayed true to who they are and got back to playing their brand of football. Gap integrity, sound technique, cage rushing Trevor Lawrence and maintaining outside leverage to prevent him from doing damage on the run, and creating interior penetration and pressure.
Outside of a few plays, the Broncos defense looked like the unit we saw dominate the league last season, and Riley Moss’s interception helped turn the tide. He had a couple of other near interceptions, and Ja’Quan McMillian’s 3rd-down pass break-up was huge late in the game because it led to the Jaguars missing a 54-yard field goal.
In return, they played complementary football and got back on track.
Now, a bigger test approaches with the Los Angeles Rams coming to town on Sunday Night.
