Nora McCarthy from Seattle, Washington, has verbally committed to the admission process* at Princeton University for 2027-28. She told SwimSwam:

McCarthy is a backstroke specialist whom we designated a “Best of the Rest” recruit on our list of top girls’ swimmers from the high school class of 2027. She will join swimmers Greta Myers, Isabella Muir, Isabel Wu, Annabel Townsend, Claire Cheung, and Dylan Liu, as well as diver Mira Wiegman, in the Tigers’ class of 2031.
A senior at Seattle’s Lakeside High School, McCarthy is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a Washington high school state champion. As a sophomore at the 2024 WIAA 3A Girls’ Swimming and Diving Championships, she won the 100 back (54.83) and placed 4th in the 200 IM (2:03.19). Last season, she was runner-up in both the 100 back (54.79) and 200 IM (2:02.71). She also contributed to the winning 200 free relay (23.70 leadoff) and 3rd-place 200 medley relay (25.54 leadoff backstroke).
Swimming with her club team, Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club, at the 2025 Winter Juniors West meet, McCarthy notched PBs in the 100 back (53.95), 200 back (1:56.93), and 200 IM (2:01.95), making ‘B’ finals in both backstroke events. In March, she updated her lifetime bests in the 50 back (25.35), 100 back (53.54), 200 back (1:56.54), and 200 breast (2:23.59) at Bellevue Club’s Premier Invitational.
McCarthy’s best times would already score in the ‘A’ finals of the 100 back and 200 back and the ‘B’ final of the 200 IM, at the Ivy League Women’s Championships.

Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
