“Best of the Rest” ranked recruit Skylar Zuleger of Advance, North Carolina has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Virginia beginning in fall 2028.

Zulegar swims for Northwest North Carolina YMCA Riptyde and finished her long course season at U.S. Summer Nationals in Irvine. There she was 20th in the 50 breast in a lifetime best 32.06 and 36th in the 100 breast in a 1:10.97.
This past spring, she swam to a Y-Nationals title in the 100 breast, touching in a lifetime best 1:00.73. She dropped 0.41 in the event this past season. She also swam to a 3rd place finish in the 200 breast with another lifetime best 2:12.95. She dropped over two seconds in the event as a sophomore in high school. She is currently a junior at Davie High School.

100 breast: 1:00.73 200 breast: 2:12.95The Virginia women captured the 2026 ACC and NCAA team titles. This marked their 6th NCAA title in a row. They were led by Claire Curzan who scored 57 individual points at NCAAs, including wins in the 100 back (48.24) and 200 back (1:46.10). The Cavaliers are currently ranked #1 in SwimSwam’s pre-season power rankings for the 2026-2027 season.
Based on her lifetime bests, Zulegar would already score at the conference level as her lifetime best 100 breast would have made the ‘B’ final while her 200 breast would have been just off making the ‘C’ final as it took a 2:12.74 to earn a second swim. It took a 59.53 100 breast and a 2:08.77 200 breast to earn an invite to the 2026 NCAA Championships.
Zulegar is the latest ranked recruit to commit to Virginia’s class of 2032 already. She joins #5 Karina Plaza, #7 Shelby Hutchinson, BOTR ranked Zayda Miehl, and Honorable Mention ranked Allison Kelly.
