Allison Kelly from Jupiter, Florida, has announced her verbal pledge to the University of Virginia for 2028-29. She made her announcement on social media, writing:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Virginia! First, I would like to thank my parents and my brother for their continuous support and endless sacrifices throughout this journey. I would also like to thank Coach Peter, Jake, Alexis, Claire, and all of the coaches at Bolles who have believed in me every step of the way. Additionally, I would like to thank Jupiter Dragons and Coach K for sparking my love for the sport. A very special thank you to the Coach Todd and the entire UVA coaching staff for the opportunity to live out my dream. GO HOOS!!! ”
Kelly swims for the Bolles School and for the club team Bolles School Sharks. With the second-fastest 200 free time in the cohort, we named her an “Honorable Mention” recruit on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers from the high school class of 2028.
Kelly dropped 2.2 seconds to place 2nd the 200 free with a PB of 1:45.80 last November at the Florida High School Class 1A State Swimming and Diving Championships. She was also runner-up in the 100 free, clocking a lifetime-best 49.72.
In March, at the Florida Swimming LSC Senior Short Course Championships, she added PBs in the 50 free (23.61), 100 back (55.76), 200 back (2:00.71), and 100 fly (55.67), and placed 3rd in the 100 free, 5th in the 200 free, 1st in the 500 free, 4th in the 200 back, and 1st in the 100 fly.
Over the course of the 2026 LCM season, Kelly posted lifetime bests in the 50 free (27.14), 100 free (57.09), 200 free (2:03.24), 400 free (4:22.63), 800 free (9:11.82), 100 back (1:05.57), 200 back (2:23.67), 50 fly (28.59), 100 fly (1:03.67), and 200 IM (2:24.71).
This has been a big week for the 6-time national champions, as Virginia women’s swimming and diving has already received class of 2028 verbal commitments from #5 Karina Plaza, #7 Shelby Hutchinson, Kelly and “Best of the Rest” swimmers Skylar Zulegar and Zayda Miehl. Kelly will be an immediate impact player for the Cavaliers, with a 200 free time that would already score at the ACC Championships.
