A 23-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash in unincorporated Crystal Lake Sunday morning.
According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene of a crash near the intersection of Butternut Drive and Chestnut Drive at approximately 2:19 a.m. Sunday.
Responding deputies found a pickup truck that had driven off the roadway near a curve. After leaving the roadway the driver struck several trees, and was pronounced dead at the scene according to authorities.
While an investigation remains underway, it is believed speed, weather conditions and alcohol may have been contributing factors to the crash, police said.
