September 20th – September 25th (pool swimming) Prelims at 10am local (9pm previous night ET)/Finals at 5pm local (4am ET) Tokyo Aquatics Centre LCM (50m) Meet Central EntriesWe’re entering the first finals session of the 2026 Asian Games with the medal-contending action taking place at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Several of the competition’s most highly anticipated stars will be in the water on both the men’s and women’s sides to set the stage and establish momentum for their nations as the week unfolds.
The women’s 200m butterfly will see the youngest-ever World Championships medalist, Yu Zidi of China, make her Asian Games debut, hoping to make the most of her first of three individual event appearances.
Then we’ll see a potentially fast and furious battle to the wall among top 200m IM contenders Wu Fang of China, Tomoyuki Matsushita and Yumeki Kojima of Japan, with the former attempting to repeat as gold medalist from three years ago.
Li Bingjie of China will take on the likes of Ichika Kajimoto in the A-final of the women’s 1500m freestyle, with Singapore’s Ching Hwee Gan ready to do her best and rain on their parade.
The marquee event of the night comes in the men’s 100m freestyle, where the reigning Asian Games champion, Olympic champion and World Record holder Pan Zhanle of China will try to approach the monster 46.40 best-ever performance he established in Paris.
Additional stars to watch include Tang Qianting (CHN) and Satomi Suzuki (JPN) in the women’s 50m breaststroke, with Olympic medalist Xu Jiayu of China vying for a repeat title in the men’s 100m back.
The night will be capped off with the women’s 4x100m free relay.
