Today’s prelims session features some of the top events of the week with the women’s 200 butterfly opening the meet. Teenage phenom Yu Zidi is the top seed by about two seconds over Japan’s Chiho Mizuguchi.
In the men’s 200 IM, Tomoyuki Matsushita leads the way with his 1:55.71 seed time putting him just half-a-second ahead of China’s Wang Shun, who is seeded in 1:56.16.
We will also see the slower heat of the women’s 1500 freestyle with Hong Kong’s Gilaine Ma as the top seed in this morning’s heat.
World record holder Pan Zhanle is the top seed, and will be chasing his first sub-47 swim since 2024.
Tang Qianting is the top seed in the women’s 50 breaststroke as the only swimmer seeded under 30 seconds.
The individual events will round out with the men’s 100 backstroke where China’s Xu Jiayu is the top seed in 52.47.
The final event of the morning will be the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay, where China is the top seed by about nine seconds over Hong Kong.
