Carrot Top is hospitalized and recovering following a reported suicide attempt, according to his representative.
The comedian, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, was rushed to the hospital in Las Vegas late Friday, Sept. 18. His Friday night performance at the Luxor resort was canceled as a result.
In a statement to People, Carrot Top’s representative shared an update on his condition.
“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” the rep told the outlet. “His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”
The representative did not provide any additional details about what led to Carrot Top’s hospitalization.
According to Ticketmaster and other ticketing sites, Carrot Top’s show scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 also appears to be canceled. Carrot Top has held a residency at the Luxor since 2005.
The comedian’s hospitalization comes days after a new allegation was made against him as part of an ongoing legal dispute.
On Monday, Sept. 14, 25-year-old Zachary Defazio filed a declaration in Broward County, Florida, in support of a lawsuit brought by singer Brian Evans against Carrot Top. In the declaration, Defazio described himself as “a second independent victim” of the comedian.
“I am coming forward in Evans’ cases because what he has told this Court about Thompson’s pattern, as it concerns me, is true, and because I support him,” Defazio’s declaration reads.
Defazio alleges that Carrot Top sexually exploited him and supplied him with alcohol at his home in Winter Park, Florida, in 2021, when Defazio was 19.
Defazio previously took legal action against Carrot Top in 2025 and, according to Orlando Weekly, sought a $7.5 million settlement. That case was dropped on Sept. 11, according to Defazio’s declaration.
Evans, a former opening act for Carrot Top’s Las Vegas shows, filed a lawsuit against him in July alleging that the comedian sent him an unsolicited sexually explicit video in 2022 or 2023. Evans said he was “immediately shocked, disturbed and offended” by the video.
Evans initially filed the case in federal court in July, but voluntarily dismissed it without prejudice on Aug. 6. He then refiled the lawsuit in Broward County Circuit Court that same day.
