Chicago police are investigating after a man was stabbed in the neck in the South Austin neighborhood Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, officers were called to the 1100 block of South Mason Avenue at approximately 7:50 a.m. for reports of a disturbance.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 51-year-old man who had been stabbed in the neck with a sharp object.
He was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.
It is believed the man was approached by an acquaintance, with a verbal altercation then occurring. During that altercation, the suspect pulled out a sharp object and slashed at the victim’s neck before fleeing the scene.
No suspects are in custody, and detectives are investigating.
