Times of India reporter Gaurav Gupta shared the latest updates on Mhatre through his social media post. The journalist mentioned in his 'X' post that Ayush Mhatre is to miss the Irani Cup as he is still training to regain his full match fitness; the batter is yet to give him the green signal.

Without the nod from the board's medical team, Mhatre is not allowed to take part in any competitive matches. The social media post further mentioned that the middle-order batter has begun batting in the indoor nets in Mumbai.
"Mumbai opener Ayush Mhatre to miss #IraniCup as he has still not received clearance from BCCI CoE; he has started batting in the indoor nets at MCA BKC in Mumbai," the social media post reads.
Ayush Mhatre received the injury during an Indian Premier League match in 2026. He received a hamstring injury in his left leg during a match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18, 2026. Since April 18, the teenage batter has remained out of action.
