An FIR has been registered against Mohammed Kaif, brother of India National Cricket Team fast bowler Mohammed Shami, following a complaint by a woman at the Ashiyana police station in Lucknow. The woman has accused Kaif of sexually assaulting her on the promise of marriage.

According to the FIR, she met Mohammed Kaif through a common friend in 2020 while she was living in a posh society in Ghaziabad. She alleged that Kaif had assured her that he would marry her.
The woman has alleged that Kaif sexually assaulted her at a hotel in Kolkata on December 9, 2023, after promising to marry her. She further alleged that she was sexually exploited at different places and in different cities after that.
According to the complaint, the woman had already told Kaif that she was divorced and had a son. She also claimed that Kaif had told her that he had no issue with her past or her child. The FIR states that the woman worked as cabin crew for an airline in New Delhi from 2023 to 2026.

She alleged that Kaif did not want her to continue working and that she eventually left her job at his request. She further alleged that Kaif discussed marriage with her after the IPL auction in December 2025 but did not marry her.
According to the woman, she met Kaif’s mother and his brother Haseeb at the house of a cricket coach in Amroha in May 2026. She alleged that Haseeb threatened her during the meeting.
