A family’s worst nightmare was realized after a woman in Michigan was killed by her adult son in an apparent murder-suicide.
The Wyandotte Police Department revealed details regarding the shocking killings on Tuesday, September 8, after the incident took place on Saturday, September 5.
According to authorities, a 67-year-old woman called 911 to report a dispute involving her son around 6:20 p.m., per media outlet WWJ 950.
Officers responded to the residence, which they said was quiet. Police said that the blinds were drawn and no one answered the door. The officers eventually left the scene without taking any additional actions, citing the inability to establish the necessary legal grounds that would allow them to forcefully gain entrance into the home.

Authorities attempted to contact the woman via several follow-up phone calls, which went unanswered.
Police received new information regarding the incident around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, and subsequently returned to the home. Upon their arrival, they discovered a deceased woman who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
While at the home, officers noticed that the woman’s vehicle was missing. They used a licence plate reader and learned that the car left the area just minutes after the victim made the initial 911 call. Due to the findings, investigators concluded the victim was killed on the night of September 5.
Investigators said that the woman’s 41-year-old son was ultimately named the primary suspect in the killing.
Police monitored Flock license plate readers and learned that the vehicle was traveling into Toledo, Ohio. They also tried to track the suspect’s cell phone, but their efforts were stalled after the suspect temporarily disabled his phone.
Around 10 a.m. on September 6, cameras captured the vehicle heading north toward the Michigan border. As Michigan police prepared to intercept the vehicle, a police officer in Toledo spotted the car pulling into a parking lot and attempted to arrest the suspect.

Police said that ballistics testing confirmed that a handgun found with the suspect matched the caliber of the shell casings that were found at the crime scene, linking him to his mother’s murder.
The names of the victim and suspect have not been shared publicly out of respect for their family, according to police.
