The Devil Wears Prada musical has just found its new editor in chief and its the perfect fit.

Bond Girl Teri Hatcher is due to take on the role of Miranda Priestly this October, stepping into the shoes of her Desperate Housewives co-star Vanessa Williams.

Williams originated the part of the formidable ice queen on the West End in December 2024 and will be exiting the production on 19 September to be taken over by Debbie Kurup. Hatcher will then begin her run at the Dominion Theatre on 20 October.

"I’ve been fortunate enough to play some pretty formidable women throughout my career, but very few can compare to THE Miranda Priestly," said Hatcher.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be joining The Devil Wears Prada in the West End. Miranda is intelligent, commanding, and has a glorious way of putting you in your place while being funny at the same time. Her dialogue is unforgettable, her confidence is contagious. These are the kinds of roles one loves to play. I can't wait to embrace Miranda's sharp wit, fierce ambition, and iconic style, and share her story on a stage with a new audience every night.”

In an interview with Hello she added that it was her daughter Emerson that pushed her to take the part: "She saw Vanessa in it and said it was great, so when the opportunity came my way she was the first person to say: ‘Oh my god, you have to do it, you're going to have so much fun.'"

She continued: "I've experienced and grown so much, and I get to bring all of that into my Devil Wears Prada performance. I feel like this is a gift for me, to arrive into a Teri Hatcher that I haven't got to be yet, and I'm so excited for it."

Hatcher's prolific screen career includes well-loved parts like Lois Lane in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Paris Carver in the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. She also voiced the Beldam in Coraline (2009) and played Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives alongside Williams' Renee Perry.

On her stage her credits include playing Sally Bowles in the acclaimed national tour of Sam Mendes' Cabaret, and Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.

The Devil Wears Prada musical is scheduled to run at London's Dominion Theatre until September 2027, and Hatcher’s final performance is currently scheduled for 6 February 2027.

Teri Hatcher will begin her run as Miranda Priestly from Tuesday 20 October 2026 until 6 February 2027.  The Devil Wears Prada Musical runs at the Dominion Theatre every Monday to Saturday with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.
