‘Completely unprepared’: Fans roast Ole Miss offense for slow start vs. Louisville

Fans were all over No. 9 Ole Miss for a, shall we say, less than ideal start to the season offensively as the Rebels took on No. 24 Louisville in a nationally televised showdown in Nashville.

But Ole Miss was held down in the Music City, at least for the first half, which ended with the Rebels clinging to a 10-6 lead over the Cardinals. This was head coach Pete Golding‘s coming out party to start a full season, and the Rebels were supposed to roll offensively with Heisman Trophy candidate Trinidad Chambliss at the controls.

Instead, the first 30 minutes produced just 10 first downs and 148 total yards, with Chambliss going 9 for 17 for only 75 yards with 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. Chambliss did rush 5 times for 31 yards, but collectively it wasn’t the kind of highlight-reel opening half that fans were looking for from the Rebels to start the 2026 season.

Naturally, those fans were out in full force on social media, telling Golding and Ole Miss exactly how they felt about the first half of what is supposed to be a really memorable season in Oxford. There wasn’t a lot to like so far in Nashville, and the fans let the Rebels know it.

Here is just a sampling of the reaction to Ole Miss’s slow start on Sunday night:

    Ole Miss looks completely unprepared

The Ole Miss offense had way too much dink and dunk for my liking in that first qtr. Trinidad is elite over the middle down the field. 3 fumbles in the 1st, really messing with their ability to wear Louisville out with tempo!

Ole Miss fans won’t be able to talk trash after this performance. Offense sucks, defense sucks. LSU gonna win by 20+

Very slow start for Ole Miss offensively.Went backwards on the first drive, and then Trinidad Chambliss fumbles on a 4th down that he had the yardage for pic.twitter.com/mk5gbyXUoJ

The Ole Miss offense is looking a little too Air Raid-y for my sensitive palate.

BRO OLE MISS OFFENSE IS SO BAD

This ain’t the same 2025 Ole Miss. Louisville looks pretty good but this Ole Miss team doesn’t look like it has the juice it did last year
