ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Turkish Society of Rochester is hosting its annual festival this weekend on Beahan Road. The Turkish Festival features authentic Turkish food made from scratch and traditional Turkish coffee prepared in hot sand.
The society was founded in 1969, and the festival has been running for at least 30 years. President Omer Yildiz said the event is open to everyone, not just those of Turkish heritage.
“It’s something we offer the community but within ourselves it’s a bonding time — this volunteering spirit brings us together every year,” Yildiz said.
The festival includes a clay station where attendees can create their own pottery. It runs until 9 p.m. Saturday, with the final day Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
