Freeman has hit .247/.317/.314 with three home runs over 288 plate appearances this season, translating to a dismal 67 wRC+. The Rockies used Freeman primarily as a second baseman, right fielder, and DH, but his lack of offensive production reduced his playing time. Back problems probably had something to do with these struggles, as Freeman had a pair of fairly minimal IL stints due to back-related issues. Freeman was activated from the second of these IL stints on August 23 and then optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
While Freeman has been a below-average hitter over all five of his MLB seasons with Cleveland and Colorado, he at least managed a 92 wRC+ from a .281/.354/.361 slash line over 428 PA for the Rockies in 2025. It is worth noting that Freeman also had a .317 BABIP last year, plus a favorable set of home/away splits from hitting at Coors Field. Freeman has still been better at home than on the road this year, but only to the tune of a .722 home OPS and a .563 OPS in away games.
