Diamond Heels fans will have a chance to see the team in action within the next month. UNC announced its fall scrimmage schedule Friday, with four games on tap both at Boshamer Stadium and Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The four scrimmages are the most the program has ever staged in a single offseason.

Fall practice for the team begins Monday, Sep. 7, and Carolina will play its first scrimmage 11 days later on Friday, Sep. 18 when Charlotte – coached by former UNC pitcher Robert Woodard – visits Boshamer Stadium. UNC will face the 49ers again the next day at 1 p.m.
The next scrimmage will come against junior college contender Walters State Friday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. While that game will also be played at Boshamer Stadium, no concessions will be available in the ballpark and fans are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks.
UNC’s fall scrimmage season concludes when the Diamond Heels face NC State at Durham Bulls Athletic Park Friday, Oct. 16, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets to that game will go on sale soon. The three scrimmages at Boshamer Stadium are free and open to the public.
Carolina is coming off a run to the national championship series at the Men’s College World Series for just the third time ever. The program returns 18 players from that team, including stars Gavin Gallaher, Caden Glauber and Erik Paulsen. Head coach Scott Forbes is also welcoming in 23 newcomers. Additionally, the fall scrimmages will be the first action for assistants Brandon Martorano and Kyle Datres as full-time staff members, after Forbes officially promoted the former Diamond Heel standouts in August.
