Rochester, N.Y. – Many are still cleaning up from Wednesday’s severe storms and tornadoes, but we will stay mainly dry today and we have a stunning Labor Day Weekend to look forward to.
The National Weather Service has completed their damage surveys for Wednesday; here are the confirmed reports: 5 tornadoes, touching down in Olcott, East Shelby, Alexander, Waterloo, and Fayette… All but one were rated EF1, with Fayette being an EF2.
We’re dealing with some cyclonic flow to our northeast today, with a ridge rider storm ongoing near the upper Great Lakes this morning… Luckily the vast majority of that weakening storm will pass far to our south and southwest. Rochester will likely stay dry whiles areas south may see a few showers this afternoon. Otherwise it will be partly cloudy and less humid with highs in the mid 70s. MUCH more comfortable than most of this past week…
High pressure will move in just in time for Labor Day Weekend. Absolutely beautiful weather in store for us, hopefully making up for the taste of Tornado Alley we had a few days ago. All three days will have partly to mostly sunny skies, cooler but comfortable temperatures in the low to mid 70s, and lower levels of humidity. Couldn’t ask for better timing.
Temperatures will rebound and humidity will spike again on Wednesday with a chance of showers at that time. Cooler again to end next week, then over the next 10-14 days we will trend slightly warmer than normal. Stay tuned for updates.
