HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Rochester’s Bhutanese community came together Thursday night to pray for the people of Nepal following last week’s catastrophic floods.

More than 1,200 people died in the disaster. The Bhutanese Community of Greater Rochester held a candlelight vigil at their community center in Henrietta.
Organizers said you don’t have to look far to find someone who lost a loved one in the floods.
“We are asking our people to pray. Pray for our community, pray for our people of Nepal, pray for our family who has lost sons, daughters, parents — we are grieving right now,” Khadka said.
“Being able to come together as one community and pray together is real comfort,” Khadka said.
