SAC Aquatics Center LCM (50 Meters) Meet Information Live Stream Live Results Available on Meet Mobile: “2026 Para Pan Pacific Swimming Championships” Day 1 ResultsThe first day of the 2026 Para Pan Pacific Championships saw some fast swimming including two world records and a host of national records during the competition.
Katie Kubiak opened the meet with a new world record in the 50 fly prelims, stopping the clock in 37.21 to take almost a second off the former world record time of 38.17. In the final, she swam 38.42 to win the event with the most Para points.
She also picked up two American records in the 100 free and 200 free. In the 100 free, she swam 1:16.10 to take 17 seconds off the former record time of 1:33.12 set by Alyssa Gialamas in 2015.
In finals, she swam 1:16.36, which was good for 2nd in the event to American teammate Leanne Smith.
Finally, she broke the American record in the 200 freestyle, swimming 2:48.03 in prelims to take 22 seconds off the 3:10.73 record also set by Gialamas in 2015.
She dropped the record even lower in the final, swimming 2:43.86 to pick up her 2nd win of the session.
The other world record of the day went to Leanne Smith in the women’s S3 100 freestyle. In the final, she swam 1:26.17 to break her own world record time of 1:28.81 from the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
Another American record came from Lawrence Sapp in the men’s S14 200 freestyle, where he swam 2:03.24 in prelims to take down his 2019 record of 2:04.37. In finals, he lowered his record further to swim 2:02.85 and finish 7th in the S14 event.
Piper Sadowski also broke an American record with her 2:21.59 in the S14 200 freestyle prelims. She took two seconds off her own record time of 2:23.25 from earlier this year. In the final, she swam 2:24.44 to finish 9th in the S14 class.
Canada set a new national record in the mixed 34-point 4×100 medley relay. They stopped the clock in 4:40.11 to take two seconds off the 4:42.32 record from the 2023 World Championships. Their team consisted of Fernando Lu (S10), Katie Cosgriffe (S10), Danielle Doris (S7), and Reid Maxwell (S8).
Australia’s Madeleine McTernan swam 2:10.71 in the S14 200 freestyle to set a new Oceania record in the event and win the silver medal.
