FAIRPORT, N.Y. — The Fairport Music Festival, a fundraiser that’s raised more than $3.2 million for Golisano Children’s Hospital over its two decades, kicks off on Friday.
Bands from across the region will perform at multiple stages around Main Street and at businesses in the village. The festival runs through Saturday and features food trucks and children’s activities. You can see the full music lineup here. News10NBC spoke with people involved in the festival on Friday morning about how it aims to support the hospital’s mission.
Festival started in honor of a friend’s daughter
Festival organizer Darryl Walczak said the event started in 2025 because a friend of his had a daughter at Golisano Children’s Hospital. A group of friends wanted to find a way to support her. Now, she’s an adult, and the festival continues to help children at Golisano.
“She got well. Great care by the fabulous professionals at the hospital. She has her own kids right now. And the organizers did a golf tournament like everybody in Monroe County does. And we decided we wanted to do something a little bit different. And so the music festival was hatched. And 22 years later, here we are,” he said.
The funds raised from previous years have helped Golisano with its projects to build a playroom at the pediatric treatment center, a private patient room, a behavioral health and wellness center, a cardiac surgical suite, and more. Last year’s festival raised more than $320,000 for Golisano.
“It is a lot of money, and it’s a testament to the community that we have, whether it’s the musicians, whether it’s our volunteers. It’s the community partners that we have. Everybody is excited for music fest weekend,” Walczak said.
Musicians set to perform original songs
Elaina Alston played an original song on News10NBC TODAY ahead of her performance on Saturday with her 12-piece band, Stunt Double. The band combines funk, blues, soul, and jazz. Alston said she’s excited to perform at the festival for the first time and to support the hospital.
“This weekend is like the Super Bowl for us musicians. We get to have a lot of fun. I get to see a lot of people I never get to see in one place, and it’s just going to be fun to musically just come together and put something out that is really unique, and you can only really see it here,” Alston said.
Stunt Double will perform at 1:30 p.m. at the festival’s south stage.
What to know before heading to the festival
Friday’s first performance at the festival gets underway at 5 p.m. at the North Stage. There will also be live music at the Fairport Brewing Company, Iron Smoke Distillery, Tin Cup Social, B-Side, TJ Ryan’s Pub, Mulconry’s Irish Pub, and Faircraft Brauhaus. Saturday’s first performance gets underway at noon at the North Stage.
Online ticket sales are now closed, but you can buy tickets at the gate for $30. One ticket is good for both days of the event, and all of the proceeds support the hospital. Children 12 and under are free.
Parking is available at the two lots on the south side of the canal and at public parking lots throughout the village. Signs will be posted showing those areas.
