The Anderson Dam will be renovated to meet new seismic safety standards that allow it to withstand a major earthquake.
The joint venture will rebuild the dam embankment and spillway, installing new outlet infrastructure and related roadway, utility and environmental improvements.
Richard Grabinski, FlatironDragados USA’s president, said: “The Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit project is a critical investment in the long-term prosperity of this community.
“This award reflects the strength of our people, our partnerships and our proven ability to deliver complex infrastructure that improves quality of life and supports future growth.”
The Anderson Reservoir is Santa Clara County’s largest surface reservoir and supplies two million residents with groundwater recharge and incidental flood protection.
In 2020 Valley Water lowered the reservoir level to 3% capacity due to seismic safety concerns.
The reservoir will return to normal operating levels once construction is complete.
Construction of the seismic retrofit is due to begin in early 2027.
