Coronation Street airs Ollie Driscoll arrest scenes in early ITVX release

Like the rest of his clan, Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) is still trying to move on from their collective nightmare ordeal at the hands of Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), who gaslit and sexually abused his younger brother, Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).

Recently in Coronation Street, Ollie’s had a lucky streak. Not only did he land a new job as head chef of Speed Daal, but he’s rekindled his romance with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and made a killing playing poker for Idris Nazir (Junade Khan).

That luck is about to change as he finds himself in conflict with another family who’s have bad luck recently – Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).

The couple have been facing a massive marital crisis since Maria discovered that Gary provided a false alibi to help his ex girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) cover up the the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). The last thing they need is more drama.

This brings us to Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins). Her relationship with George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) has been on the rocks ever since he uncovered her compulsive spending addiction. She ran up staggering debt with fraudulent credit cards in the name of her ex-husbands, as well as her friend Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) and George’s own sister Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger).

Horrified, George has left to visit a cousin in Somerset alone and gave Christina nothing but radio silence for days. Fearing that her relationship was over, Christina drowned her sorrows.

This led to a run-in with Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw), who filmed a tipsy Christina staggering in the ginnel. When he emptied her water bottle on her, a fuming Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) intervened and pinned the child to the floor.

When Christina revealed Jake only used water, a mortified Ollie let him go just as Gary Windass (Mikey North) swooped in to protect his son and warned Ollie to stay away. Battle lines were drawn.

In today’s episode, the police got involved as Jake made out to Gary and Maria that he was on his way to call for Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) at the time of the incident. Gary urged his son to be honest during his statement.

In the Rovers, Christina and Glenda assured Ollie he acted in good faith, but they’re interrupted by the arrival of PC Jess Heywood (Donnaleigh Bailey), who arrested Ollie on suspicion of assault. Will Ollie be able to clear his name?
