It's crunch time for Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) in EastEnders, as she received the all-important news that could change her entire life in Thursday's episode (27 August 2026).
The Walford regular has had an eventful past few months on Albert Square. After her relationship with ex-boyfriend Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) broke down due to his violent episodes and mental health crisis, Priya took control of her life back and embarked on a whirlwind affair with Walford's resident philanderer Max Branning (Jake Wood) - who is engaged to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
In case things weren't complicated enough, Priya recently discovered she was pregnant, with no idea who the father is. Meanwhile, an oblivious Ravi is determined to reconcile with Priya and recently proposed.
Head spinning, Priya sought advice from her sole confidante Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), and decided to have a termination. After booking the clinic, she met with Max, who encouraged her to say 'I do' to Ravi and find happiness.
Everything changed when Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) suffered a scare with her own pregnancy after being rushed to hospital with a blood clot. Although both mother and baby were fine, the incident profoundly affected Priya, and she ultimately decided to keep her baby.
She even asked Ravi to pop the question again. That could be a dangerous mistake.
In tonight's episode, as Ravi gently pressures Riya to break their engagement news to their family, she receives a text and finally gets those all -important paternity results.
Max Branning is the father. What is Priya going to do now?
Meanwhile, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) is awaiting some life-changing medical news of her own.
Since being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia back in May. the no-nonsense matriarch of Clan Fox-Trueman has taken a rapid turn for the worse. The stress of family drama, like her daughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) struggling to care for her son Jordan Fox after he was hit by Ian Beale's (Adam Woodyatt) car, has taken its toll on Denise and influenced her decision to delay her treatment.
Recently, her condition got so bad that Dee could no longer breathe properly on her own, so she had to be put in a medically induced coma, as her partner Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) wept beside her.
However, all hope it not lost. Her sister Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) and the rest of the Fox-Trumans have been searching the internet for a donor with enough DNA to be a potential match for a stem cell transplant. Their search of an ancestry website led them to Darnell Larson Jr (Christopher Colquhoun), Denise’s long-lost half-brother.
Unfortunately, their first meeting did not go well. Darnell got overwhelmed and bolted out, leading to a confrontation with Jack.
Fortunately, he came back around and returned to Denise.
In today's episode, Darnell opened up to Dee about precisely why he got overwhelmed; he has a fear of hospitals ever since losing his wife. He opened up a little about their present but disinterested father.
Suddenly Denise suffered a coughing fit. When Darnell asked if there was anything he could do, Denise asked him to take that all-important swab test and see if he was a match.

This led Darnell to question if Denise really wanted to meet her brother, or if she just needed a donor to save her. Things got emotional between the siblings as Denise expressed regret for not having Darnell in her life, but she insisted that she owed it to her family - and herself - to ask him that all-important question. Will he agree to take the test and see if he's a match?
Later, Denise called Jack, elated with the news they've been waiting for - Darnell is going to take the test. He's going to see if he can save her life.
