Prime Minister Andy Burnham has agreed to provide Ukraine with blueprints to produce long-range missiles.
He is set to announce during his first trip to Ukraine that he will allow European defence firm MBDA to declassify information on UK components for the long-range Scalp missile – the French-produced version of the UK’s Storm Shadow.
The “deep precision strike” missiles use shared French and British technology, and Ukraine and France are looking to set up local assembly lines to produce them in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister is visiting Kyiv on his first foreign trip to mark Ukraine’s independence day and signal the UK’s continued support for the country under his administration.

Reform UK are pledging to prioritise British-born workers under 35 when allocating social housing.
Nigel Farage’s party said it would also give precedence to veterans and married couples with children.
The party has already said it would evict foreign nationals from social housing.
Housing charity Shelter hit out at the move, saying the solution to the social housing crisis is building more homes rather than “changing the order of the queue”.
Reform UK MP Richard Tice will also set out a plan for the party to build 50,000 affordable social homes a year, which he says will require no new taxes or borrowing, at a press conference on Monday.
Shelter says 90,000 a year are needed over the next decade.

Will HazellWhitehall CorrespondentAndy Burnham has shrugged off Vladimir Putin’s threats against Britain by offering Ukraine more military help and choosing the war-torn country as his first foreign visit as Prime Minister.
Burnham is in Kyiv this morning to mark Ukrainian Independence Day, with the Prime Minister promising President Volodymyr Zelensky classified information to help build long-range missiles in Ukraine.
It comes amid a drumbeat of threats from Russia over the continued support Britain is giving Ukraine to fight back against Putin’s invasion.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Britain’s support for Ukraine “will not waver” and that the Kremlin should be “in no doubt of our resolve”.
Burnham – who welcomed Zelensky to the UK last month as his first international guest as Prime Minister – arrives in Kyiv today to take part in events marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence following the break-up of the Soviet Union.
