A search is on for an inmate who escaped custody from a Marysville hospital room and has not been located, authorities said.
The Sutter County Sheriff's Office said Jerome Woody escaped from his room at Adventist Health Rideout Hospital shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies said Woody was under the supervision of a private security company that is contracted by the county to provide nonviolent prisoner watches.
Woody, 44, is not believed to be armed or dangerous and was in custody on nonviolent charges, deputies said. Jail records show he was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and for theft with two prior thefts.
