Emmerdale star Ned Porteous reveals who he thinks Dawn Fletcher should be with ahead of explosive wedding week

Emmerdale star Ned Porteous has weighed in on Dawn Fletcher’s love triangle with her fiancé Joe and ex-husband Billy ahead of her explosive wedding next week.

Dawn (Olivia Bromley) is set to marry Joe (Porteous ) next week on the ITV soap, but little does he know that she is planning to escape with Billy (Jay Kontzle) and the kids, with the help of Caleb, who is seeking revenge against Joe after falling victim to his schemes for years.

Fans will know that Dawn decided to leave Joe after Billy lied that her soon-to-be husband had landed him in hospital.

But Joe didn’t actually carry out the assault and is just letting Dawn think he did so she’ll have reason to leave him.

Speaking about the upcoming wedding day, Porteous told Radio Times: "Well, without being biased, I'd say Billy. I would say Billy. I think that due to the life that Dawn has had, and due to the turmoil that she's been through, the character of Billy offers her stability and a type of peace that, for her and for her kids, is probably what she deserves."

He continued: "I think that Joe has the capabilities of being a good man. I know that he loves her dearly, and they very well may have a romance that lasts the ages. But I think on paper, Billy's probably the one for her."

Asked whether Joe has a heart, the actor responded: "Much like the Grinch, I believe there is a seed of a heart in him. I think everyone in this world has the potential for great good and great evil. I don't think anyone is born a villain."

He added: "I imagine that Joe's animosity to the world and his evil, if you will, is a product of his experiences, the way that he has been raised, and the people that he has spent time with have taught him that in order to control this world, you have to own it and destroy it in a way. He hasn't had enough experience with real love and real connection for him to learn that the way he's working doesn't win in the end.

"Joe has been let down many times in his life by people who were supposed to be there for him when he needed them most. So all he has learned, he's built up this callous skin around his heart. The heart is there, but it's numb and it's cold, and something else has taken over, and I think it's his rage.

Meanwhile, describing next week's wedding drama in three words, he responded: "Shock, drama, quality."
