Russia on Saturday said it struck transport and logistics infrastructure in Kyiv and the surrounding region, identifying a locomotive depot and a logistics center among the targets.
The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces used ground-launched precision weapons and long-range drones in the attack, hitting the Darnytsia locomotive depot in Kyiv and a logistics center in Brovary. The depot serviced locomotives “used to transport Ukrainian weapons and military equipment,” while the Brovary facility “stored components and completed long- and medium-range drones.”
Russian forces also struck warehouses containing military equipment and fuel storage tanks intended for Ukrainian forces at the Black Sea ports of Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi, the ministry added.
Ukrainian media reported that a warehouse caught fire in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district following the strikes, killing one person and injuring several others. Drone attacks also wounded four people, including a child, in the Zaporizhzhia region.
On the front line, Ukraine's General Staff recorded 202 combat engagements over the previous 24 hours, including 25 Russian attacks in the Kostiantynivka sector and 23 around Pokrovsk, and estimated Russian losses at 1,240 personnel, six tanks, six armored vehicles, 64 artillery systems, two multiple-launch rocket systems and three air-defense systems.
On August 21, a Russian drone struck a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, killing at least 16 people and wounding more than 130, including 22 children, Ukrainian outlets said. Nine people, including two children, were preliminarily listed as missing.
