Two Illinois parents have been charged in the death of their 1-year-old daughter.
Twenty-eight-year-old Amanda Russell and 34-year-old Michael Russell of Du Quoin were charged with involuntary manslaughter, among other charges, in their daughter’s death.
According to Illinois State Police, officers were called on Aug. 17 to the 700 block of West Park Street in Du Quoin for a child death investigation.
“The child suffered severe burns over a large portion of her body and had not been taken to a medical facility for treatment,” police said.
After an investigation was launched, Amanda and Michael Russell were arrested.
They appeared in court Tuesday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering the life of a child, while Amanda Russell also faced a charge of solicitation to obstruct justice.
