Day 3 Finals Heat Sheet

We have made it to the penultimate finals session of the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Championships.

    The session will open with the 400 freestyle, where American Vivienne Zangaro is the top seed after she swam 4:11.60 in prelims. Zayda Miehl comes in just a second behind her at 4:12.47.

    In the boys’ 400 free, Luka Mijatovic swam 3:50.33 to qualify just ahead of Australia’s Lincoln Wearing, who swam 3:50.71 to qualify 2nd. Mijatovic has already won three individual events at this meet, the 100 free, 200 free, and 800 free.

    In the 100 butterfly, Gabi Brito and Zara Kocak from the United States tied for the top seed in 59.92, five hundredths ahead of Japan’s Umi Ishizuka, who also came in under 1:00 at 59.97.

    Japan’s Michika Enomoto swam 52.72 to earn the top seed in the 100 fly ‘a’ final, sitting about three tenths ahead of Charlie Cancelmo, from the United States, who swam 53.05 in prelims.

    Audrey Derivaux is the top seed in the 200 backstroke final with her 2:10.70 coming in about a second ahead of fellow American Lane Francis, who swam 2:12.01 in prelims.

    The United States’ David Sammons was the only boy under 2:00 in the 200 backstroke this morning, swimming 1:59.84 to touch about a second ahead of Davis Jackson, who swam 2:00.87.

    The final individual event of the session will be the 50 breaststroke, where Australia’s Lilla Ribot-de-Bresac swam 31.48 in prelims to set the top time by half-a-second over Australian teammate Brielle Dredge, who swam 31.93.

    On the boys’ side, Japan’s Yusei Imaizumi swam 27.57 to touch three hundredths ahead of Brazil’s Kaua Santos Carvalho, who swam 27.60.

    The final event of the session will be the 400 freestyle relays, where the United States is the top seed in both relays.

    The girls’ 400 freestyle final was close, but ultimately American Vivienne Zangaro finished on top with her 4:09.81 stopping the clock one tenth ahead of Japan’s Haruno Tanimoto, who swam 4:09.92.

    Zangaro’s swim was a new lifetime best, taking half-a-second off the 4:10.31 she swam at the USA Swimming National Championships at the beginning of the month to qualify for the Junior Pan Pacs team.

    Zangaro, who is committed to the University of Georgia for 2027, took the lead at the start, but at the 200 meter mark, fell just behind Tanimoto. She split 2:04.19 to turn just two hundredths behind Tanimoto’s 2:04.17 for the lead. She quickly moved back into the 1st place position on the next 50.

    Zangaro came home in 2:05.62, earning the win over Tanimoto’s closing split of 2:05.78.

    Zayda Miehl, from the United States, took the bronze medal in 4:13.46 (2:05.92/2:07.54). This was about a second off her prelims swim of 4:12.47, but was still two seconds faster than her pre-meet best of 4:15.16 from the U.S. Nationals.

    American Sydney Hardy won the ‘B’ final in 4:14.77, a second off her lifetime best of 4:13.76 from April.

    BOYS 400 FREESTYLE – Finals

    American Luka Mijatovic had a strong swim in the boys’ 400 freestyle to win the gold medal in a new Junior Pan Pacs record time of 3:43.67, finishing four seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

    This swim was a two tenth add from the 3:43.45 mark he set at the USA Swimming National Championships last month to win the event. He was out just a little slower, splitting 1:50.50 on the opening 200 to turn about a tenth behind the 1:50.39 he swam in Irvine. He came home in 1:53.17, another tenth behind the 1:53.06 he split at Nationals

    Australia’s Lincoln Wearing finished 2nd in 3:47.85. This was a new lifetime best for him, taking three tenths off the 3:48.15 he set in December of 2025. He split 1:53.03/1:54.82 to earn the silver medal in the final 200 meters.

    Japan’s Raito Numata took 3rd in 3:48.55, splitting 1:52.24/1:56.31 for the bronze medal as the final swimmer under 3:50.

    Ellis Crisci, from the United States, won the ‘B’ final in 3:52.38, a two second add from the 3:50.89 he swam at Nationals.

    GIRLS 100 BUTTERFLY – Finals

    The United States goes three-for-three so far on the 3rd night with Gabi Brito setting the top time in the girls’ 100 fly final, stopping the clock in 59.41.

    She came in about two tenths ahead of Japan’s Umi Ishizuka, who swam 59.59 for 2nd, and three tenths ahead of American Zara Kocak, who swam 59.73 for 3rd.

    Brito’s swim was about seven tenths off her lifetime best of 58.72, which she swam at the USA Swimming Nationals last month. She was out in a blistering 26.82 before homing home in 32.59.

    Ishizuka swam 27.88/31.71 to just barely hold off Kocak, who had the fastest closing split in the field of 31.45 to nearly chase her down on the final 50. Kocak’s final time was a new personal best, taking five hundredths off the 59.78 she swam in May of 2026.

    Australia’s Olivia Hine was the final swimmer under 1:00, swimming 59.75 after splitting 27.42/32.33 to add two tenths from her lifetime best of 59.59.

    Mexican 14-year-old Victoria Garcia Caldera swam 1;00.98 to win the ‘B’ final by seven tenths.

    BOYS 100 BUTTERFLY – Finals

    Japan’s Michika Enomoto picked up the first non-American gold medal of the session, swimming 52.46 in the boys’ 100 fly final to win by two tenths.

    Enomoto was the top qualifier after swimming 52.72 in prelims and he dropped a little more than two tenths tonight after splitting 24.62/27.84 to have the fastest splits in the field on both 50s.

    Charlie Cancelmo took 2nd for the United States with his final time of 52.69 (24.71/27.98). This was almost four tenths faster than the 53.05 he swam in prelims. He added about two tenths from his lifetime best of 52.47, which he set at the USA Swimming Nationals.

    Mike Rice, who is committed to Auburn for this fall, finished 3rd for the United States in 53.15, a near eight tenth drop from the 53.93 he set earlier this month.

    Australia’s Maxwell Cunningham stopped the clock in 53.81 to win the ‘B’ final after splitting 24.86/28.95. His lifetime best is 53.37 from the 2026 Australian Age Championships.

    GIRLS 200 BACKSTROKE – Finals

    The girls’ 200 backstroke gold medal went to Audrey Derivaux from the United States in 2:10.35, more than a second ahead of the rest of the field.

    She was out in 1:03.02, turning more than seven tenths ahead of Argentina’s Cecilia Dieleke, who swam 1:03.79 to turn in 2nd. Lane Francis, from the United States, swam 1:03.91 to turn in 3rd.

    Derivaux came home in 1:07.33 to finish in 2:10.35, almost four seconds off her best of 2:06.68 from March of 2025.

    Francis came home hard, splitting 1:07.87 to move past Dieleke, who split 1:08.33, for the silver medal. Francis stopped the clock in 2:11.78 about a second off her lifetime best of 2:10.99 from the USA Swimming Nationals.

    Dieleke stopped the clock in 2:12.12, nearly two seconds faster than her prelims time of 2:14.02. At the Junior Pan American Games last summer, she swam 2:11.92 in the event.

    A pair of Americans, Ellie Clarke and Sadie Buckley, took 1st and 2nd in the ‘B’ final, swimming 2:12.42 and 2:12.54, which would have been 4th and 5th in the championship final.

    BOYS 200 BACKSTROKE – Finals

    At the senior Pan Pacific Championships, the United States did not win a single medal in the men’s 200 backstroke, but at the junior meet they took the top two spots as the only swimmers under 2:00 in the event.

    Davis Jackson swam 1:59.21 to set the top time by almost four tenths over teammate David Sammons. Jackson split 27.18/30.09 to turn in 57.27 to sit about a second-and-a-half ahead of Sammons, who split 28.07/30.80 to turn in 58.87.

    Jackson swam 30.80/31.14 on the final two 50s to split 1:01.94 on the 2nd 100. Sammons had monster splits of 30.46/30.26 to swim 1:00.72 and nearly catch Jackson on the final 50 meters.

    Jackson’s lifetime best is 1:58.67 from the USA Swimming Nationals and Sammons’ best is 1:59.43, also from the USA Swimming Nationals.

    Japan’s Rui Yoshida swam 2:00.54 for the bronze medal, half-a-second faster than Australia’s Sydney Kito, who swam 2:01.06 for 4th.

    The ‘B’ final went to Thomas Garbanzo from Australia in 2:00.98, which was nearly a full second faster than the 2:01.84 he swam in December.

    GIRLS 50 BREASTSTROKE – Finals

    American Maddie Moreth won a very close girls’ 50 breaststroke final, stopping the clock in 31.58 to win the gold medal.

    Moreth’s swim was a tenth slower than Lilla Ribot-de-Bresac‘s prelims time of 31.48, and was almost four tenths off her lifetime best of 31.25 from the USA Swimming National Championships earlier this month.

    Ribot-de-Bresac added a little under two tenths from her prelims time of 31.48 to swim 31.63. This tied her with fellow Australian Brielle Dredge for the silver medal.

    Dredge’s swim was a new lifetime best by three tenths from the 31.96 she swam in December.

    The ‘B’ final also went to Australia with Keahne Bergin swimming 32.78 to add about a second from her lifetime best of 31.94 from March.

    BOYS 50 BREASTSTROKE – Finals

    Japan’s Yusei Imaizumi picked up the 2nd gold medal of the session for Japan, touching in 27.55 to win the boys’ 50 breaststroke by two tenths over Brazil’s Kauã Santos Carvalho’s 27.74.

    Imaizumi’s swim was two hundredths faster than the 27.57 he swam in prelims, and Carvalho added a little more than a tenth from his prelims time of 27.60.

    American Ian Call took the bronze medal in 27.77, a seven tenth add from the 27.09 he swam in Irvine earlier this month.

    The ‘B’ final was won by American Wilson York in 28.40, almost two tenths faster than his prelims swim of 28.57 and a new lifetime best by eight hundredths from the 28.48 he swam in July of 2025.

    GIRLS 400 FREE RELAY — Finals

    The United States and Australia had a very close race in the girls’ 400 freestyle relay, but ultimately the United States came out on top, stopping the clock in 3:40.59 to win by four tenths over Australia’s 3:41.01

    Aria Grossenbach led the United States off in 55.43, two tenths faster than Australia’s Kira Long, who swam 55.66. Canada was actually in the lead after the first leg after Ranumi Eashwarage, the 100 free champion, swam 55.33 on the lead-off.

    Kate McKinnon pulled the United States team into the lead after she split 55.04 on the 2nd 100 to pick up six tenths on Australia, who had Asha Ring split 55.66, and Canada, who had Kelly Choi swim 55.69.

    Australia closed the gap slightly on the 3rd 100 with Lillie McPherson splitting 55.31. This was six hundredths faster than Gabi Brito, who swam 55.37 for the United States. Canada fell back slightly further with Marlee Winser swimming 56.03 in 3rd.

    The anchor legs were very close in their splits. Abi Burke, the 100 free bronze medalist, split 54.75 to lock up the win for the United States by four tenths over Australia’s Jodie Mead, who swam 54.80 on the anchor leg.

    Canada had Kaede Taka swim 55.44 on their anchor leg to stop the clock in 3:42.49 for the bronze medal.

    BOYS 400 FREE RELAY — Finals

    United States — 3:18.45 Australia — 3:19.44 Japan — 3:19.91

    The final event of the session went to the United States boys’ team in 3:18.45, finishing about a second ahead of Australia’s 2nd place time of 3:19.44.

    Mike Rice led the team off in 49.54, jumping out to an early lead. His lifetime best is 49.07 from USA Swimming Nationals. Jordan Ragland split 49.49 on the 2nd leg. Ty Thomas swam 49.95 in 3rd, and Luka Mijatovic anchored the team in 49.47.

    The Australians finished 2nd with Christopher Montana leading off in 49.95 to mark his first time under 50 seconds in the event. His previous best was 50.38 from the Australian Age Championships in April.

    Cashy Luo split 50.31 in 2nd. Tristen Waugh was 49.84 in 3rd, and Maxwell Cunningham out split Mijatovic on the final 100, swimming 49.34 to earn the silver medal for Australia.

    Japan’s Toya Hirata led them off in 49.78. Eita Kawaura was 50.26 in 2nd. Hinata Ando swam 50.37 on the 3rd leg, and Raito Numata brought the team home in 49.50 to stop the clock in 3:19.91
