After Australia were outplayed in Darwin, Pat Cummins was asked whether he could identify where the defeat began and whether Australia's preparation had been an issue.
The Australian captain refused to blame the team's preparation and instead pointed towards their failure to make enough of the conditions on the opening day.
"Probably that day one. You know, I thought our preparation was, you know, pretty much spot on. I thought it was excellent. So, yeah, no excuses. They played really well."
Pat Cummins admitted Australia needed to bat for longer after being bowled out for just 198. Bangladesh's Hasan Mahmud claimed 6/55 as the hosts struggled against the visiting pace attack.
"I thought the day one wicket was doing a little bit early, but obviously got to try and find a way to bat a little bit longer than we did, and then, yeah, just couldn't penetrate with the ball. But, yeah, I thought they played really well."
The Australian captain also indicated that changes could be considered before the second Test, although he stressed that the team had only just finished the match. He said:
"I think every time there's a game like this, you always kind of look at your match-ups and, you know, your make-up of the team for the next one. But, yeah, we only just finished, so we'll have a think about it."
"You know, we're pretty good at bouncing back, so no doubt the batters and every group will get together and have a good think about this one and where we can improve."

Pat Cummins gave full credit to Bangladesh for their performance, admitting that Australia were beaten across all three departments.
Bangladesh's bowlers dismissed Australia for 198 before their batters built a massive first-innings lead through Tanzid Hasan's 101, Najmul Hossain Shanto's 84 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's 65. They then bowled Australia out for 284 before completing the 57-run chase.
"Yeah, they did. I think they outplayed us in all facets, really. You know, I thought they were really patient and quite disciplined. And, yeah, once we were behind, it was really hard to get back," he said.
Pat Cummins also praised Josh Hazlewood, who took six wickets in Bangladesh's first innings and completed 300 Test wickets during the match, while Cameron Green's unbeaten fight was rewarded with a century.
"Josh, he hasn't had a great run for injuries the last couple of years, but he's one of the hardest workers and, yeah, just showed his class," he stated.
"And then Greeny, again, I thought, you know, the tempo of this innings showed how good he is. Yeah, just needed a couple of us to hang around with him, but it was fantastic."
