The release date for Ahsoka season 2 has officially been confirmed, alongside a chilling first trailer - teasing that war has arrived on Thrawn's orders.
The new season will arrive on 20 January 2027, 3 and a half years after season 1 was released, with the trailer giving us a new look at the return of Rosario Dawson's hero, Lars Mikkelsen's villain Thrawn, and the returning Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen).
The new trailer opens with a question from apparition Anakin, whose surprise appearance in season 1 stunned fans.
"Tell me, Ahsoka, what troubles you?" he asks. "I am always walking by your side."
It goes on to show us the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn, who declares: "Citizens of the glorious empire, I took an oath to protect the Empire. I therefore declare war on the rebel alliance."
"I had a vision," Ahsoka says. When asked what she saw? "War. War, and more danger than I thought."
View oEmbed on the source websiteNow, after being stranded in another galaxy, Ahsoka and her apprentice, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) travel to find their way home - while Thrawn plunges the galaxy into all-out war.
Season 2 will also see the return of Baylan Skoll (previously played by the late Ray Stevenson, with Rory McCann taking over the role).
Other returning cast members include: Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka made her debut in animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, voiced by Ashley Eckstein, where she overcame an initially divided response to become a genuine fan-favourite.
Ahsoka season 1 finally brought the animated characters of Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren into live-action for the first time, after their introduction in Star Wars: Rebels.
