Another very hot day with many areas seeing temperatures running at least 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. Heat advisories and even warnings are in place and will likely stay there in to Sunday with a few possibly dropping off earlier as the sea breeze starts to make a slow comeback. Look for temperatures on Sunday to once again range from 80's near the coast to the upper 90's and low 100's farther inland. Again, some areas near the coast could see a bit more sea breeze strength and that could help to lose the advisory level heat a bit quicker on Sunday. Fog will also linger along the coast as a weak thermal inversion persists. Any fog that does try and push inland will likely burn off quickly through mid day. Surf along the coast will also decrease with advisories dropping off for all areas as ex hurricane continues to more farther west and weakens as well.
Looking ahead, cooler weather will make its triumphant return through the middle of next week with temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday dipping to near normal levels for this time of year. That means things will stay very warm, but below the advisory and warning levels of the past several days. However, it is August and that means more warming is expected for the second half of the work week and in to next weekend. At this time, it doesn't appear that we will see a repeat of the past few days, but expect many inland areas to warm back solidly in to the mid and even upper 90's. This will mean that a few areas may see an advisory posted once again for more heat concerns. Our long range computers are also seeing some hints for a return of Monsoon moisture which would mean more humidity in addition to the extra warmth. We will keep an eye things and pass the word on to you as to what the Monsoon flow might bring as we head through next week.
