Stacey Dooley is teaming up with Dr Alex George and Dr Nighat Arif for her new eye-opening documentary series.
Clickbait Clinic is set to lift the lid on the rise of people turning to social media for health advice and diagnoses – and how much of the advice should be listened to.
Stacey will be joined throughout the series by Dr Alex and Dr Nighat, who both use social media platforms to share advice, and have become prominent faces on TV when it comes to health and medical segments.
Dr Alex, who first found fame on Love Island in 2018, is a former A&E doctor who has become a mental health educator and advocate for those with autism and ADHD.
Dr Nighat is a GP at a private women’s health clinic in London, specialising in fertility and support for patients with hormonal symptoms and imbalances, including PCOS, endometriosis and menopause care.
Both have appeared on shows including BBC’s Morning Live and ITV’s This Morning for their expert opinion and guidance.
Clickbait Clinic aims to "cut through the noise" to look into online wellness trends, medical claims and viral medical discussions.
Together, Stacey, Dr Alex and Dr Nighat will test how true certain claims are – with the official announcement sharing that they’ll cover "everything from extreme leg-lengthening surgery, NAD+ drips and the carnivore diet to testosterone, methylene blue and dog deworming tablets that some believe can cure cancer."
Speaking on the new series, Dr Alex said: "I've spent plenty of time searching online for answers about my own health, but I've also spent years working as a doctor.
"Looking at some of the claims going viral from both perspectives has been fascinating, and I'm really excited to explore them with Stacey and Nighat."
Dr Nighat said: "This is a dream project for me and even better it’s with Stacey and Alex. I've often seen the very real impact of harmful online health advice in my clinic, so helping to untangle this for viewers could not be more important.
"The one thing I want them to be able to say, 'is this something that is evidence-based or is this something that could potentially not work or even do me harm?'"
Clickbait Clinic with Stacey Dooley starts on BBC One and iPlayer later this year.
