Fans of fantasy are yearning for a good film, as the last great cinematic triumph for us nerds was likely Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. And lucky for us, assumed greatness is progressing beautifully. Thanks to Instagram, prolific fantasy author Brandon Sandersongave fans an update on the progress of the highly anticipated Apple TV film based on his novel Mistborn, and it is good news!
The first draft of the screenplay is officially done.
"After many months of work, I'm thrilled to announce the first draft of the Mistborn screenplay is DONE! Just in time to celebrate the book's original publication, twenty years ago this month. Do please remember that this is just an early step in a very long process, but I'm terribly excited by how it turned out," he cheerfully captioned the image of the title page.
Fans were beyond ecstatic to see it was finally progressing after Apple TV's announcement earlier in the year, leaving a gaggle of witty comments and genuinely joyous ones.
"SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP," stated one excited fan.
"Flaring my tin to this right now," quipped another.
"Who else zoomed in trying to read the next page," asked another.

Mistborn is just the beginning of this epic series that contains several trilogies. The "Era One" trilogy features The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages, as well as the novella Secret History. The "Era Two" books are The Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, The Bands of Mourning, and The Lost Metal. "Era Three" is still currently in the works. Set in a dystopian, fantastical world where evil triumphed over good, the first trilogy follows "Allomancers" who consume metal to wield magical powers and attempt to overthrow the evil empire.
