Former India captain Kris Srikkanth asks the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to immediately decide on Tilak Varma and Rajat Patidar to reshape the team for the T20I format.
Srikkanth mentioned in one of his YouTube videos that Rajat Patidar deserves to play for India over Tilak Varma. Team India confirmed a clinical 3-0 series win against Zimbabwe in Harare on Sunday.
Tilak Varma, in the third and final match of the bilateral series, scored 11 off 9 deliveries. India won the match by 35 runs and ensured a whitewash for the hosts.

“He is nothing compared to Rajat Patidar. If you want a real solid T20 knock, go to Patidar, give him a chance. Everyone is getting chances like Yash Thakur; give him a chance too," he added.
With a fifty-plus run knock, Tilak Varma scored 77 runs in three of the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Abhishek Sharma is another batter whose form is questionable. He played all three matches in the series and was not able to register a half-century.
In his last ten innings for the Indian cricket team, Abhishek has registered only 191 runs with a solitary half-century. In the previous four innings, the opener was dismissed for only single-digit runs.

Due to the slump, Kris Srikkanth, in the same YouTube video, mentioned that since the hat-trick of ducks in the 2026 T20 World Cup, the southpaw has lost his momentum and the selectors should now think about replacing Abhishek with someone capable of scoring runs for India regularly.
"Abhishek Sharma has been sorted out in international cricket, right from the World Cup. I think a tough call has to be taken against him now. I feel Sanju will get his chance again now. He will receive a call back 100%. The selectors will have to take a tough call,” Kris Srikkanth said.
After the conclusion of the series of back-to-back away white-ball series, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma will get some rest to regroup themselves, as India will be seen playing against Sri Lanka for a Test series as their next assignment.
