The recalled product was sold in 2.5-gallon bags packed inside boxes and distributed in New York and New Jersey between April 1 and June 20, 2026. Affected products have best-by dates ranging from June 3, 2026, through Sept. 3, 2026.
According to the FDA, ambient storage conditions could allow the formation of Clostridium botulinum toxin, the bacteria responsible for botulism. While the recall has been classified as Class II, meaning the risk of serious health consequences is considered remote, consumers are still urged not to consume the product. Instead, it should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns that botulism can be life-threatening because it attacks the nervous system. Early symptoms may include trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, along with blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea. Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled coffee should seek medical attention immediately.
Consumers can identify the recalled product by checking the lot codes and best-by dates listed in the FDA recall notice.
