Former India spinner and stand-in India bowling coach Sunil Joshi, who is currently overseeing the bowling attack in Zimbabwe with the regular support staff of the India National Cricket Team being rested, has shared his comments on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ahead of the second T20I match against the Chevrons on Saturday.
Sunil Joshi has asked the fans and the cricketing fraternity to keep a close eye on Sooryavanshi's batting as the 15-year-old batter scored his maiden half-century in the 1st T20I match and helped India to win the match by 7 wickets. Sunil Joshi, while speaking ahead of the second game, told the reporters that the primary focus for the 15-year-old boy wonder should remain on his aggressive batting style.
"I think the first thing is, let's focus on his batting. He's been sensational and I'm glad that he has done well. This is a happy hunting ground for him. He performed well in the U19 World Cup finals here. He had a good performance yesterday as well," Joshi told reporters.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's current form
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took charge on Thursday, as he scored his maiden fifty in just 19 deliveries and smacked the Zimbabwe bowlers all over the park. After achieving the milestone, he became the youngest cricketer to score a fifty in international cricket. He will eye doing something similar in the second game on Saturday.
Previous to this innings, Vaibhav made his debut in England and eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar's record to become India's youngest men's international debutant, but he was dropped after scoring just 42 runs from 3 innings on the tour, which raised many questions from the cricketing fraternity about mishandling a teenager.

Sooryavanshi had a stellar IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals (RR); he very nearly carried the team to the final of the competition. The Southpaw finished as the leading run-scorer for the side and the tournament as well.
He finished off with 776 runs in the tournament with five half-centuries and one hundred, won the Orange Cap, and became the youngest to achieve the award. The 15-year-old also won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and several individual awards as well.
