For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Three more recruits will join West Virginia University’s women’s swimming and diving team in the fall of 2026: Aivleen Walsh, Evelyn Quick and Abby Hill.
Coming to Morgantown from Pennsylvania, Walsh currently trains year-round with York and York County YMCA and primarily specializes in the IM events. At the 32nd Annual YOTA/Arena Capital meet in December, she posted a series of strong performances. She prevailed in the 200 IM (2:05.10 – PB), 400 IM (4:22.76 – SB), 200 free (1:50.80 – SB) and 1650 free (17:05.92 – PB), and she placed 2nd in the 500 free (4:56.20 – PB) and 1000 free (10:21.31) and 33rd in the 100 back (1:00.54 – SB). Walsh improved her times even further at the 2026 YMCA National Short Course Championships in March, placing 3rd in the 400 IM (4:19.37 – PB), 6th in the 1650 free (16:58.36 – PB) and 9th in the 200 fly (2:03.65 – PB).
Walsh’s Best Times SCY:
200 IM – 2:05.10 400 IM – 4:19.37 200 free – 1:50.23 500 free – 4:56.20 1650 free – 16:58.36Fellow Pennsylvania native Quick attended Wilson High School and swims year-round with Wilson Aquatic Club, where she excels at the shorter distances of free and fly. At the 2026 PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) 3A State Championship in March, Quick logged two personal best performances. She snagged the runner-up spot in the 100 fly (53.26) and clocked a time of 51.19 in the 100 free as the leadoff on the 400 free relay. She still holds top times in the 200 free (1:54.42) and 200 fly (2:08.79) from the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons, respectively.
Quick’s Best Times SCY:
100 fly – 53.26 200 fly – 2:08.79 100 free – 51.19 200 free – 1:54.42An Illinois native, Hill recently graduated from Saint Charles North High School and swims year-round with Barrington Swim Club, primarily specializing in free and some breast. The 2026 Sectionals meet in West Fargo saw Hill earn a second swim in both her events, placing 26th in the 50 breast (32.43) and 17th in the 100 breast (1:07.91) after posting a best time of 1:07.06 during prelims. Hill recently competed at the Westmont Sectionals (LCM), where she turned in a series of strong performances; she contested the 400 free (4:37.17 – SB), 800 free (9:22.53), 1500 free (18:01.07) and 200 breast (2:49.56 – SB). Several of her top times still stand from the 2022-2023 season, particularly in the freestyle events.
Hill’s Best Times SCY:
100 free – 55.37 200 free – 1:52.24 500 free – 4:54.01 1650 free – 17:00.88A Division I program in the Big 12 Conference, WVU finished 10th at this past season’s conference championships. To earn a second swim at the 2026 Big 12 Conference Championships, it took times of 4:56.89 in the 500 free, 4:25.17 in the 400 IM and 54.91 in the 100 fly/200 fly, meaning Walsh, Quick and Hill would have all landed in the finals in at least one of their top events. The three recruits should bring added depth across the board when they join the Mountaineers this fall.
Quick, Walsh and Hill will be joined by Lizzie Yon, Gabriella Marim, Maggie Wright, Ireland Gilligan, Taylor Clements, Scoutyn Jackson, Abby Foskey, Sara Mason, Andrea Gonzalez Herrera, Gabbie Panichella, Stefany Amorim, Abby Clark, Grace Greenhalf and Rowan Baglole in WVU’s class of 2030, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
