This week’s Hometown Heroes, presented by the O. Max Gardner Foundation, are Todd LoFrese, TJ Laughrey, Andy Olson and Jim Ray.
They’ve spent the last few weeks biking across the country to raise awareness and money for the Be Loud Sophie Foundation in Chapel Hill. It’s a 3,500 mile trip from the Pacific to the Atlantic, traversing across ten states and two mountain ranges. They started in San Francisco on June 13 and are wrapping up this week in Savannah, all part of an annual fundraiser called Bike Loud. LoFrese, Laughrey, Olson, and Ray had a goal of $18,000 and they’ve already raised over $19,000 and counting. In the seven years it’s been going on, Bike Loud overall has raised over $200,000 for the Be Loud Sophie Foundation. The Be Loud Sophie Foundation supports teens and young adult cancer patients, providing services to help them stay positive and live as normal a life as possible while undergoing treatment.
