Authorities are investigating after two people were critically injured in a crash involving a car and moped in Lake County, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday near Delany Road and August Zupec Drive in Wadsworth. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived and found a moped with extensive damage and two riders, who were unconscious in the roadway.
Police said two people were riding the moped northbound on Delany Road approaching August Zupec Drive when the operator slowed down to turn left. The driver of a Chevrolet Malibu, who was traveling northbound behind the moped, swerved into the southbound lane of Delany Road and struck the moped as it was turning left, police said.
As a result, both people riding the moped were thrown into the roadway. The operator, a 35-year-old man, and the passenger, a 32-year-old woman, were taken to an area hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. The driver andpassenger in the Chevrolet weren’t injured.
The crash is being investigated by theLake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
