Abbott’s anniversary celebration (Friday)
Abbott’s, the iconic Rochester frozen custard chain, is celebrating its 100th anniversary on Friday. The Abbott’s location on Lake Avenue is holding a ceremony at 2 p.m. where it will scoop its “Centennial Scoop.” After that, there will be a community celebration starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Avenue location with live music, face painting, the Seneca Park Zoo-Mobile, and more.
The Lake Avenue location is Abbott’s first. The business now has frozen custard stands in seven states. The summertime staple was founded back in 1902, and opened it’s iconic beach location in 1926. Canandaigua Art and Music Festival (Friday through Sunday)
The Canandaigua Art and Music Festival kicks off on Friday, bringing over 150 artists, food vendors, and exhibits to Main Street in downtown Canandaigua. The free festival runs through Sunday.
Paintings, photography, jewelry, woodworking, sculpture, glass art, fiber arts, gourmet foods, mixed media, and home décor will be for sale. In addition, visitors can see demonstrations from the artists.
There will also be several live music acts each day at a stage at the corner of Main and Coach streets. The festival runs from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can see News10NBC’s guide to the festival here.
Pride Parade and Festival (Saturday)
The annual Rochester Pride Festival returns to Highland Park on Saturday with live music, food, arts vendors, and drag. The celebration kicks off with the Pride Parade at 11 a.m. at South Avenue and Science Parkway. The parade will then head north on Highland Avenue to Highland Park for the festival. Nearly 180 groups are registered to march.
The festival runs until 6 p.m. School of Rock, DJ Citizen Jane, and Nyk Tyrell will be some of the music acts. You can see an entertainment lineup here. General admission for the festival costs $5, and children under 12 are free. You can get tickets online here or at the gate.
Because parking will be limited around the area, people can park at MCC Lot A and take a shuttle bus to the festival. There will be round-trip services from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
