Auburn will be fighting an uphill battle this fall to become relevant in Year 1 of the Alex Golesh era.
But if Tuesday’s announcement was any indication, the passionate fans on the Plains are already believing in Golesh’s ability to get the Tigers off the canvas. That’s because Auburn has already sold out 3 SEC games this fall, a few months before Golesh even coaches his first game with the Tigers.
The trio of SEC matchups that have already been proclaimed as sellouts is headlined by a showdown with LSU and first-year head coach Lane Kiffin on Oct. 24. Jordan-Hare Stadium will be rocking with a sellout for that matchup of Tigers vs. Tigers, and the 2 other SEC sellouts announced on Tuesday are showdowns against Florida and Vanderbilt.
The game against the Gators on Sept. 19 will feature 2 first-year head coaches, with Golesh going up against first-year Florida head coach Jon Sumrall. The Auburn-UF matchup will be a primetime game on the Plains that will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The aforementioned Auburn-LSU game is scheduled for a noon ET matchup, with the TV designation yet to be determined.
The third sellout announced on Tuesday is for Auburn’s matchup with Vanderbilt, which will take place the week after the Florida game on Sept. 26. The kickoff time and TV designation for the Auburn-Vandy game has yet to be determined.
Auburn also announced on Tuesday that single-game tickets for remaining Tigers home games will go on sale on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. local time.
