Whoopi Goldberg had the perfect date to the red carpet: Her daughter, Alex Martin Dean.
Goldberg, 70, rose to stardom as a comedian and went on to groundbreaking film roles in movies like Ghost, The Color Purple, and Sister Act. Now a beloved co-host of The View, the star hit the red carpet at the opening night of The Whoopi Monologues at Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in New York City. But it was the rare red carpet sighting of her daughter, Alex, 52, that made plenty of fans smile.

Goldberg Brings Her Humor to The View
Last year, Goldberg brought a lot of laughs to The View when she admitted that she hasn't worn a bra in 50 years.
“I don’t wear one. I have not worn a bra in 50 years,” Goldberg shared with Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and the squad. “It’s too uncomfortable, and I don’t mind if they hit the floor! They’re mine.”
Of course, the news wasn’t exactly new to Behar, who chimed in with “she liberated those girls a long time ago.”
The discussion started when Hostin asked the other women about the best way to put on a bra. Looking bored with the conversation, Goldberg answered, “What? I don’t wear a bra.” Naturally, the crowd loved that response, hooting and hollering in response.
Joking about what she does when her breasts get too low, the Sister Act star got up from her chair.
“This is what you do. You’re walking and then you go, ‘Hey girl,’” she joked while pretending to kick an object from the ground up to her body.
Of course, Goldberg isn’t one to ignore a fancy outfit if it’s an important occasion. Last year, she was looking lovely at the 2025 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which focused on a “Tailoring Black Style” theme. She wore a Thom Browne black and white tuxedo-inspired gown that featured a collared button-down shirt and tie, E! Online reported. A black top hat with a veil and a white textured coat falling off her shoulders capped off the unique look.
