You can say what you want about the pitching, which is admittedly quite shaky, but this Cubs offense is dangerous. That, and extremely fun to watch.

The Cubs’ lineup put on a show on Wednesday night, slugging five home runs against the Orioles, including two from Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Colin Rea was fantastic in his 5.1 innings of work, allowing just three runs and two walks. He’s now given up six earned runs *combined* over his last four outings (20.2 IP). Rea still has a 4.75 ERA on the season, but he has definitely been more effective of late.

But back to the walking highlight reel, Pete Crow-Armstrong, for whom another incredible game is never surprising, but always enjoyable. PCA hit his 20th and 21st home runs of the season, raising his wRC+ to 155 and his WAR up to 5.8 (only 0.3 behind Shohei Ohtani for the league lead).

PCA is the first Cubs player with back-to-back 20/20 seasons since Sammy Sosa (1993-1995). pic.twitter.com/djp1TaeWbh

Michael Conforto and Carson Kelly went back-to-back in the fifth inning to tie the game, their eighth and fifth home runs of the season, respectively.

Seiya Suzuki joined the party in the seventh, sending a three-run home run 401 feet into deep left field. It was Suzuki’s first hit since last Wednesday, and a big one at that, as those insurance runs proved to be critical to the victory at Camden Yards.

After Suzuki’s home run, the Cubs had a 9-3 lead. Of course, in typical 2026 Cubs fashion, the bullpen had to make the game a little more interesting. Drew Pomeranz and Caleb Thielbar each gave up two runs, but Jacob Webb was able to shut things down in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.

Hey, we said the offense was going to have to win some games. This is what that looks like.

Tonight’s Ankin Law: “Making it Personal” Player of the Game is Pete Crow-Armstrong, who hit two home runs and walked. With that first home run, Crow-Armstrong became the first player this season to hit 20 home runs *and* steal 20 bases, which puts him well on his way to another 30/30 campaign. He’ll be headed to Philadelphia in a few days for his second straight All-Star game, as well!
